Heliophysics Research: Geospace Science

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is inviting grant applications for research on the space that surrounds the Earth and how it is influenced by the various solar system bodies. These studies range over regions that begin with the Earth's upper atmosphere, including the mesosphere and thermosphere, and extend outward through the ionosphere, into and beyond the magnetosphere. The program also supports studies of the space plasma environments of other solar system bodies. The program has four components: Supporting Research (G/SR), Guest Investigator (G/GIP), Instrument Development and Enabling Science (G/IDES), and Low-Cost Access to Space (G/LCAS).

DEADLINE: Step 1 proposals (preproposal) are due April 13, Step 2 proposals (full proposals) June 15.

FUNDS: G/SR and G/GIP grants: ~$125,000/yr; G/IDES grants: ~$150,000/yr; G/LCAS awards,: ~$400,000/yr. The project period is three years.
