Dynamics of Coupled Natural and Human Systems

The National Science Foundation is inviting grant applications for basic research and related activities that enhance fundamental understanding of the complex interactions within and among natural and human systems. CNH focuses on the complex interactions among human and natural systems at diverse spatial, temporal, and organizational scales. CNH seeks to advance basic knowledge about the system dynamics: the processes through which systems function and interact with other systems. CNH supports three types of activities: Large Interdisciplinary Research Projects, Interdisciplinary Team Exploratory Projects, and Research Coordination Networks  (RCNs).

FUNDS: $17 million is available for 15 to 18 awards. Large projects range from $500,000 to $1.5 million, exploratory projects from $150,000 to $250,000, and RCNs from $250,000 to $500,000.
