The National Science Foundation is inviting grant applications
for research on problems at the chemistry-biology interface in which
chemistry provides the primary approach or tools. The program
emphasizes the fundamental examination of mechanisms, dynamics,
recognition, and structure/function relationships at the molecular
level.  Projects that integrate experimental and theoretical chemical
approaches into studies of biomolecules or biomolecular processes in
the domain of proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids will
be considered. The program supports the use of small molecules such as
ligands, inhibitors, signal transducers, or molecular beacons to
interrogate biological systems, and the application of computational
and spectroscopic methods to examine Nature's macromolecular machinery
and processes.
